One Saturday afternoon, a little girl visits her grandmother, with whom she shares a wonderful bond. She looks forward to a day full of sewing and snacks with her grandma, who she calls Iya. However, she notices something different about Iya: she is unable to speak or move the right side of her body.
When the little girl’s parents call 911, Iya is taken to the hospital, and her family learns that Iya has had a stroke. In this story about courage and strength, readers will join the narrator as she helps her Iya adjust to a new life. The family comes together to help Iya with everyday tasks such as eating and exercising, and they start to understand that just because Iya can no longer speak doesn’t mean she can’t hear them.
